From the time your alarm goes off in the morning until you close your eyes at night, you’re constantly running around. In other words, as much as you’d love to workout regularly, you don’t see how you’re supposed to find an hour or more each day to hit the gym. While it may seem impossible to get in the required exercise the truth of the matter is, there are ways for you to sneak physical activity into your day.
Exercise While Cooking or Cleaning
Waiting on the water to boil or for a dish to get finished? In those few minutes, you have you could be working out. You could do a few lunges, push-ups, jumping jacks, or other quick exercise moves to get your heart rate pumping. Believe it or not, you can also get in a good workout while completing your household chores. You can perform lunges while vacuuming, squats while ironing, and even work on your arms and shoulders while dusting and cleaning windows and other surfaces.
Workout While Soothing Baby
Trying to put your little one down for a nap but having no such luck? Instead of rocking the baby as you sit down, get up and get moving. You could do squats or lunges while holding the baby securely or you could turn on some music (not too loud, of course) and bust out a few dance moves. You could also throw the baby in the stroller and go for a little jog as the movement has been known to be soothing for some infants.
Do More During Dog Walks
Take advantage of the time you have while walking your dog. Instead of just walking them for a few minutes to stretch their legs and use the restroom, try to incorporate some more physical activities for yourself. You could jog instead of walk, do lunges and other stretches, or let your dog loose and run around and play with him for a few minutes. Sneak it In at Work
You might spend a better part of your day at work but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make the most of it and sneak in a bit of exercise. For starters, don’t park close to the building. Instead, park further back and walk. You can also do chair crunches at your desk and take a resistance band to stretch your arms and legs after sitting at the computer for a long period of time.
Squeeze it Into Family Time
There’s no easier way to get your heart rate pumping than when hanging with your family. Instead of spending quality time indoors or doing something that involves sitting, try to get creative. You can play interactive sports or dance game with the kids, go outside and run around, or rough house at a nearby park.
Staying active is imperative to your physical and mental health. However, when you’re bombarded with responsibilities and little time in between, it may seem like you have to put things like working out on the back burner. On the contrary, you can start incorporating more exercise into your daily activities without missing a beat.
